The Great Hamster LandSpeed Record and other strange tales edition by Philip Bonifonte Humor Entertainment eBooks

If you have ever listened to psychologists, talk-show hosts or other such nut-cases giving their spiels, childhood is a magical time, a time of innocence and learning and wonder.
I say it's a time of guilt, forgetting and blundering.
Growing up isn't Candy Land; it's more like Dungeons and Dragons. I was born in 1958, which puts me at the tail-end of the Baby Boomers, and from the time I was able to walk and talk until I got out of high school I was constantly involved in one scheme or another, most often involving physical pain, embarrassment or threat of jail time.
What were these schemes? Well, perhaps “scheme” is too powerful a word. “Activities” - how does THAT hit you? “Exploits”? “Juvenile Adventures”? Whatever you choose to call it my life from 6-to-18-years-old was a Baker's Dozen of misadventures and close calls, of understanding what my parents told me to do yet still doing the exact opposite. There must be some faulty wiring in my head, or maybe this is just The Way of kids around the world.
I don't know. I'm not a professional kid-analyzer. I only know what I did, what I went through.
THAT was plenty strange enough.
And it's the topic of this book.
Enjoy.

Be warned that if you are reading this in public, you may get stares for those spontaneous bursts of laughter. That poor ha, ha, ha, hamster.I had no brothers. I was the one who heard on a regular basis, " Where did you get the idea to do That?" I didn't have cohorts either. So my exploits were less grand, but he has set me to thinking how I could have amped some things to wondrous levels.
A wonderfully happy read. Thank you.

The Great Hamster LandSpeed Record and other strange tales edition by Philip Bonifonte Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
Phil really captures a segment in time that was magical if not buzzard..... Glad That I was part of it.
Philip Bonifonte has done a great job in capturing the essence of growing up in the 60's and 70's. It was a time where kids learned life lessons through imagination and execution of the contrivances of imagination while walking the razor's edge with success on one side of the blade and the gamut from multiple contusion to death on the other side!
(Of course depending upon the degree of idiocy associated with the particular escapade at hand!)
Basically, it signaled the beginnings of the death knell of learning through physical trial and error, often enhanced by the benefit of social interaction with several of your "best friends"...which would be replaced by the solitude of technology where a vast majority of the kids of today have evolved into techno-nerds that have not developed the upper body strength to lift a broomstick above their heads....but, can crush a Volkswagen with their overdeveloped thumbs!
Finally, and personally, I am glad to be a product of this era and particularly proud to have earned a couple of mentions in some of the escapades detailed in Phil's book.
Keep writing Phubert!

Laugh out loud funny and I could totally relate to it! I sure hope there's a sequel. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Bonifonte has finally revealed what was going on in those pesky boys' heads. They were having a lot better time than the cuts and bruises indicated. A fun read and sure explains all the salves and plasters they wore. And I think I heard that party! Keep those stories coming.
Riotously hilarious, with fantastic setup and delivery. Every chapter makes you grimace slightly as you wonder what comic tragedy lies in wait for the unfortunate author. It reminds us all of our younger days filled with hijinks.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's was as crazy fun as I remember it. Because my friends were as crazy and as fun as me. Phil has done a great job describing that era. A weird time between the last of the baby boomers and the beginning of gen x. Now I will be humming "I got a brand new pair of roller skates." while I go make some spaghetti.
Be warned that if you are reading this in public, you may get stares for those spontaneous bursts of laughter. That poor ha, ha, ha, hamster.
